Tetbury Woolsack Races 2011

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

Dear all,

If you haven’t made plans for bank holiday Monday (30th May), then think about coming to the Tetbury Woolsack Races. This event is thought to have originated in the 17th Century, when Tetbury thrived on the woollen trade, as did much of the Cotswolds, producing and exporting the finest wool in Europe.

Racing takes place on Gumstool Hill and hundreds of people line the street to watch men and women race up the 1-in-4 hill carrying a full woolsack, weighing 35lbs for women and 60lbs for men. Fortunately, due to her retail training, Qetty is used to carrying such a weight in shopping, and will have no problem on the day!

The streets around the centre of town are closed to traffic creating a great space for entertainment, stalls, foodie-delicious BBQs and other delights, as well as a French Market on Long Street.

For more information check the website http://www.tetburywoolsack.co.uk/

Qetty Bang Bang will be open on Bank Holiday Monday from 10.30am to 4pm, so don’t forget to pop in and see us. For those customers further afield, we’ve recently added more accessories and vintage clothing to our online shop, and will be adding even more over the next couple of weeks so we’ll keep you posted.

Have a lovely weekend,

Qetty and the girls

Time Gentlemen Please, for Fashion!

Don’t forget, we now stock a great range of menswear by Italian designer Poggianti and British tailor Nick Holland, known as Holland Esquire.

As you would expect at Qetty Bang Bang, this is no ordinary collection – we found the usual menswear available on the High Street left us feeling cold.

Our collection focuses on elevating the usual shirt or jacket with use of subtle detailing. Poggianti introduce contrasting elbow patches and trims, floral and paisley prints, and even detachable collars to give their shirts the edge. The hand-customised jackets and trousers by Holland Esquire are pure genius, using a number of design details such as hand stitching, use of two or more complementing fabrics, quirky buttons, and colourful multi-coloured linings. Choose from a selection of linen jackets and suits, and Liberty print shirts in flattering cuts.

Hope to see you soon,

Much excitement at QBB HQ today, as the Tetbury store was featured in the Sunday Telegraph Stella Magazine. Designer of wonderful leather boots and shoes, Penelope Chilvers, named the store as one of her favourite places in the Little Black Book section.

One of our best-selling jewellery designers, Comfort Station, was also featured on page 9. We’ll have their latest collection in store from July and can’t wait!

Bye for now,

“I was in Tetbury with a friend the other day and discovered all sorts of inspirational shops. This one (Qetty Bang Bang) mixes vintage and new fashion. I found beautiful 1940’s-style hairbands for my girls.” Penelope Chilvers, Secret Addresses from Stylish People.

(Thank you Penelope)
